What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy and coaching serve different purposes and offer different outcomes. I like to say that therapy can be coaching but coaching cannot be therapy. Through therapy, we delve into emotional and psychological challenges, assisting you in from past traumas and managing mental health conditions such as depression and. In contrast, coaching is more focused on setting and achieving specific goals in your personal or professional life. While therapy often examines the root causes of behaviors, coaching offers strategies and accountability to help you accomplish your objectives.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice or do not show up for your appointment, you will be charged the full rate for the session. I understand that emergencies happen, so please communicate with me as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you need to cancel our session but are able to reschedule for within the same week (pending my availability with my prescheduled clients) I will be able to wave the cancellation fee. 

How do I know if you are the right therapist/coach for me?

Finding a therapist or coach who makes you feel accepted and validated, shows understanding and sympathy/empathy is a very important part of the therapeutic or coaching process. We can start by having a consultation call to discuss your concerns , goals and to see if we're a good fit. Book here.

How often do I need to have sessions ?

Currently, I offer weekly or bi-weekly sessions. If holidays, vacations, or life's unpredictability come up, I'm happy to create a that works for you. I understand the importance of self-care and approach these situations with empathy. There may be times when I find myself in a similar position, and I appreciate your understanding in those moments :)

How long does therapy or coaching last ?

Therapy is a highly personal process and only you know when you want to stop. Therapy varies from person to person often depending on treatment goals and other factors.  My goal as your therapist is to be eventually fired and through our time give you the confidence to guide your own journey. 

For coaching I recommend at least a 3-month program because it takes about 90 days to build a habit that is sustained. After the initial 3 months, we can reevaluate your progress and decide on the next steps. Clients commit to meeting once a week during this period. 

Do you offer reduced rates ? 

I understand that everyone’s financial situation is different, and I want to ensure therapy is accessible. The fee can be adjusted based on your income and financial circumstances. We can discuss your situation and find a rate that works for both of us.

What do I need to start ? 

A device with a camera and microphone, stable wifi, a quiet and private space. 

I struggle with anxiety. Should I do therapy or coaching ? 

To address this question, consider which approach or process resonates with you. Therapy can be valuable for exploring and healing from past experiences and emotional challenges, as well as for managing and understanding mental health issues. On the other hand coaching is perfect for setting goals, creating a structured plan, and having someone to keep you accountable. Together, we can uncover what you seek and determine the best approach for you.

What kind of people do you work with ? 

I have experience working with individuals aged 20 to 50 from diverse backgrounds, religions, and sexual orientations, each with own unique goals and challenges. The clients I serve best include women, people of color, immigrants, and minorities. focus on addressing women's and gender issues, privilege, the experience of being marginalized, multiculturalism, intergenerational trauma, as well as feelings of guilt, anxiety, stress, and depression.

However, I believe I am not the best fit for those experiencing active suicidal ideation or eating disorders, as these are complex issues that require specialized training. If you are facing either of these issues, I would be happy to provide a referral.
